Exams
The Jazz Centre follows the Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus for students interested in taking ballet exams or presentations from the age of 6 years. We recommend students attend two ballet classes a week to reach examination standard. Exams are generally held in August.
Vocational Graded Examinations are offered to the more serious ballet student from Intermediate Foundation to Advanced 2. Students must attend three or more classes to be eligible to sit for the Major Syllabus Examinations. Exams can be taken in June or October.
Competitions
The opportunity exists for students wishing to enter competitions either as a soloist or as part of a group. Groups are selected by invitation only. Students wishing to do solos must take a minimum of 6 private lessons.
VCE
The Jazz Centre offers classes in VCE Dance for students from year 10 to year 12 however a minimum of 6 students is required to run these classes. Students should check with their school VCE Coordinator before enrolment.
Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded for Dance and Cheer yearly. All Dance successors must attend either a classical or contemporary class per week.
Costumes
The Jazz Centre hires all costumes to the students at a very reasonable rate. No sewing by parent is required although help is always appreciated. Costume hire is added to terms three and four invoice.
Production Levy
Students who participate in the end of year production are required to pay a production levy of $70. This levy covers production costs such as backdrops, props etc as well as a fully professional filmed DVD of the concert. This levy is added to term two invoice.
Uniform
All students are required to wear the school uniform, which can be black or purple. These can be purchased from The Jazz Centre or from Bloch at Chadstone. Students will be given a Bloch Privilege card on enrolment which depending on the number of hours they do each week will offer them a 5%,10% or 15% discount.

Merchandise
The Jazz Centre and Victorian State cheereleaders has a range of T-shirts, Jackets, dance bags, all with The Jazz Centre or VSC logo. Our merchandise shop is open only on Saturday mornings or items can be ordered at any time.
2nd Hand Sale
2nd hand sales are held at the beginning of terms one and two on a Saturday morning at The Jazz Centre. All items must be in very good condition, brought in zip lock bag with envelope enclosed with details of item to sell.
